35 weeks...

Our littlest buddy,

It has been a hard week for you mama and daddy this week (especially your daddy). One of your granddads is very sick. We have tired to come to terms with what is happening and it makes us even more thankful for you. You are going to be a light in your daddy's life. We can't wait to see your sweet squishy face.

How far along? 35 weeks and 1 day...only 34 days until our due date and 2 weeks until I am term!!!
Size of the "THE BABY"? around 5.5 lbs and 18 inches long

Maternity Clothes? of course...

Weight Gain? 30+
Stretch Marks? just a few on my left hip...nothing major

Gender? I still think that Baby Scott is a boy and Andre still thinks girl...we will find out soon though!!!

Movement? lots and lots of movements...it is still my most favorite part

Sleep? okay...lots of tossing and turing though and getting up to pee

Food Cravings? still french fries and caffeine free cokes :)

What I Miss? NOTHING
Symptoms? larger belly (obviously) and lower belly pinches
Best Moment of the Week? I had my first appointment where the doctor "checked" me. I am 75% effaced and 0 cm dilated as of Tuesday. We go back to the doctor on Monday...I am anxious to see if there is any progress since I walk everyday. I was also measuring a few days ahead of schedule on Tuesday. I hope that doesn't mean that baby Scott is going to be TOO big...I'm hoping for a healthy 7-8 lb baby :)

I am going to do something that I do not usually do on my blog...

I am going to ask for you all to keep Andre and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

His dad got the news that his cancer had spread on Monday and now he is under hospice care.

I know that they need peace and acceptance.

This is such a hard thing for any family and they could use a little help.

I had my maternity pictures scheduled for March 11 but decided to reschedule for the same weekend as my shower so I would only have to travel one day...and boy am I glad I got them done when I did. The weather was perfect and I think I was "big" enough! I think taking maternity pictures at 37 weeks would not be a very good idea...emotionally.

Erin with ESC Photography took the beautiful pictures. I just love these two and cant wait to see more!!!

7 little scott things V.8

1. Last week blogging took a back seat as you can tell. Nothing was wrong...we were just really busy and I was extremely tired. At the end of the day all I want to do is cook dinner and lay down. I think the pregnancy exhaustion has returned.

2. Our baby shower was great. I had such a great time and baby Scott really got lots of really cute things!!!! A post about it will come this week.

3. I have really wanted to cook some chicken and dumplings or chicken noodle soup so I cooked chicken noodle soup last night. Andre do not really like soup so I am going to eat it for lunch this week. I am already excited to eat it today!!! I have never made homemade chicken stock before until last night and it really does make the difference in this soup. It is a must try recipe :) .

4. Basketball season has come to a close. I was really hoping that Andre's team would make it to the state championship this year, but that did not happen. They still had a great year...almost 20 wins!!! Now it is baby season in the Scott household!!!

5. Speaking of baby season....we have 2 weeks until Baby Scott could come and it would be perfectly fine. I can not believe how fast this pregnancy has flown by. I still have a feeling that I am going to be one of those women that goes 41+ weeks!!!

6. We installed the car seats into our cars last night. Thats one more things that can me scratched off of our before baby comes to do list. One big thing left on that list is to pack our hospital bags. I need to start making a list ASAP!!!! Do you have a great list of things I need? Help a girl out :)

7. We watched Midnight in Paris this past weekend. It was really good and I just loved seeing all of the familiar places through out the movie. I REALLY want to go back to Paris and this movie just intensified that desire! Hopefully we can go right after Baby Scott turns a year old!!

34 weeks

We are one more week closer to meeting you. This week has been really busy with your shower last Saturday. Then I had my maternity pictures afterward. You were moving the entire time the photographer was taking the pictures.

We have finally reached the point where we must go to the doctor every week. Its crazy that I am that far along. We had a good check up on Wednesday. My blood pressure was a little high when I first went in but it went back down after I settled down in the room. The doctor told me that there was nothing to worry about. I hope that it stays low like it should for the rest of the time!!! I do not want to meet you any earlier than when you decided to make your debut!

Keep growing big and strong little buddy! We love you so much already!

Dear littlest buddy,

Each week that goes by marks one week closer to us meeting you. We are really anticipating your arrival, but want you so stay in my belly for a little while longer. We want you to be big and strong when we finally get to see you.

You have been really punching and kicking me this week...I think you are getting a little cramped. You weight about 4.5 pounds now!!! You have also learned how to dance on my bladder this week. I have to jump up from my desk and run to the bathroom when you start your routine :) All of your moving around is still my favorite part...and of course as I am typing this you are moving away...stretching and moving!

You are going to your baby shower tomorrow. I am so excited to see and talk with everyone. Afterwards, I am taking maternity pictures. I hope that we can get some really good shots of you still in my belly. I know once you are here I am going to miss my belly and having you with me all the time. I hope these pictures capture how happy I am with you right here with me!!!

Our Valentine's celebration lasted 2 days. On Monday I cooked all of our favorite things from Paris. We just ate and spent time with each other.

Then yesterday we exchanged gifts. Andre surprised me at work with flowers...beautiful flowers!!!

Then afterwork I headed over the school for the first round playoff game. Andre's team won and the game was over a little earlier than normal so we went to get something to eat. We decided on Outback. After dinner we headed home and Andre really surprised me with these...

What a thoughtful husband I have. I just love him so much.

Happy Valentines day!!!

When I was doing my research on all of our baby supplies, past blog posts were my best source. So I have decided that I would let you all in on all of our favorites. Needless to say, these are our favorites before baby so the may change after he/she is here. Hopefully not too much though since we already own all of these things.

This edition is about all of the BIG things...

Crib: Baby Mod Olivia- this crib is simple but really fit my vision for what I wanted in the nursery. It was really easy to put together and it came with the toddler bed conversion kit. I have the mattress set in the highest setting in the picture. By the way...I made all of the bedding with Amy Butler Midwest Modern Ohio Sky fabric.

mattress: Sealy Soybean Foam crib mattress- this mattress is very firm but still comfortable. It is covered in a waterproof shell...which I think will be a great thing if our little buddy has any accidents. The soybean core is supposed to keep its shape for the life of the mattress.

stroller: BOB revolution SE- I did tons of research on what was the perfect stroller for us...and we decided on the BOB revolution SE. We wanted a stroller that I could take on the rail trail here and one that would stand up to me training for future half marathons. This particular stroller has a locking front wheel that is perfect for all terrain and jogging. This stroller is a little heavy ( maybe 20 lbs) but is really built sturdy. We also got the infant seat attachment so we can use it from the beginning. I really really LOVE this stroller!!!

infant car seat: Graco SnugRide 35 Infant Car Seat Laguna Bay- (right) after lots of research we decided on the snugride 35 because it is light functional and the baby can ride in it until he/she is 35 pounds. It is also gender neutral and will click right into our BOB stroller.

convertible car seat: Graco Smart Seat All-In-One Convertible Car Seat- (left) we registered for this car seat to go in Andre's car. I knew we would eventually need something other than the infant car seat so we went with this all-in-one. It have very good safety reviews and is very sturdy. It turns into a booster seat and the baby can use this one until he/she weights 100 pounds!!!

glider: Shermag Rocker and Ottoman- this glider is very comfortable and was easy to put together. Andre and I both love sitting in it...the only thing that will make it better is to have our little baby here to rock in it :)

bassinet: Carter's Classic Comfort Wood Bassinet- Baby Scott is going to start off sleeping in our room and instead of moving the crib in there we decided to get a bassinet. This bassinet will get lots of use because I think Baby Scott will sleep in our bedroom for quite some time. We thought about co-sleeping but decided against it so the next best thing is to have the baby right there in the bassinet.

pack and play: Graco Pack and Play in Laguna Bay-We knew we needed something that we could take with us when we travel. This pack and play is easy to assemble and put away. It has a built in bassinet, napping station, and changing pad. I am not sure if we will use those things very much, but I can see the pack and play in the shade in our yard while I am tending to our garden this summer...with a sweet baby sleeping inside :)

carrier: Ergobaby Carrier with newborn insert- I have heard ONLY great things about this carrier. It is very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, looks great, and Andre can wear it too!! I have also heard that babies seem to really like riding around in this carrier. We got the newborn insert as well...I have heard that some babies don't like it but maybe ours will :)

Moby Wrap in Moss: We got this carrier for when the baby is really small and might not like the Ergo. It seems pretty easy to use and the instruction book comes with many different ways to tie it on. I think this carrier will be great for wearing around the house while I am on maternity leave and I want baby to be with me to nurse.

swing: Fisher Price My Little Lamb swing- I have heard that a good swing is a must. I just love how soft and sweet this swing is. There are lots of sound effects and swing speeds...plus it has such a cute little mobile over head. We plan on putting this in our living room so that I can keep an eye on little baby while I'm doing other things.

monitors: Summer Infant Video Monitor- We will probably not use this to start with because baby will be sleeping in the room with us. When he/she moves to the nursery I know this will give us peace of mind at night.

snuza- We decided to get a Snuza after I read all of the rave reviews. The little clip goes right on the front the baby's diaper and detects for breathing and movement. If there isn't any movement for like 5-8 seconds it will vibrate and make noise to wake the baby. If that doesnt work then it will alert the parents. I really think that this little device is going to make sleeping with a newborn in the house that much easier!!!!

1. I rescheduled my maternity shoot for this coming weekend. I originally had it scheduled for a weekend in March, but after some thought I decided that now would be a better time. I have a feeling that in March I may not feel my prettiest and will not want someone taking lots of pictures of me. The only bad thing about this weekend is that Andre will not be able to come with me...so all of the pictures are going to be of just me. I figured that during the newborn shoot we could get some pictures of all of us together.

2. We will have our Valentine's Day dinner tonight. Andre has a basketball game tomorrow night so we decided that tonight would be our night of celebration. I am cooking all of our favorite Parisian things...warm goat cheese salad, filet and frites, and flourless chocolate cake with creme anglaise and raspberries. I even got a bottle of sparkling grape juice to take the place of a good French wine. It is going to be a perfect meal with my better half! I really can't wait to eat tonight :)

3. My baby shower is this weekend and I am so excited. I can't wait to spend some time with all of my friends and family. I have a feeling the food is going to be amazing as well :) Speaking of all things baby...I should have the first installment of our favorite baby things up tomorrow!!!

4. I finally found a maternity/nursing bra that is actually comfortable. I have had such a hard time with bras this pregnancy. My girls have grown by leaps and bounds this pregnancy and so has my band size. I guess this is why I have had such a hard time finding a good fit. This new bra is seamless and stretchy but not with out providing great support.

5. We went to the movies this weekend to see the Descendants. We both really enjoyed it...I hope that it wins some awards!!! After watching it I have this urge to visit Hawaii...it is so beautiful!!!

6. Yesterday the boys and I had a much needed rest day. I did not get out of sweats all day. I can not remember the last time that I have gotten to do that. I know my body really appreciated the much needed break and rest. I hope that resting gives me the much needed energy for this week. There are lots of things to do this week!!!

7. During my rest day I watched an Eastbound and Down marathon. I wanted to get caught up before the new season aired next week. Did you know that the new season was taped in Myrtle Beach, and some of Andre's friends had acting parts.

8. When we got our keurig this Christmas we also got the accessory where we could make our own K cups. I finally found some really good coffee this weekend at the grocery store that was decaf...decaf Hazelnut coffee :) I used the "make your own K cup" accessory yesterday (for the first time)and now I am in love! I have found my new favorite thing to accompany breakfast...hazelnut coffee with skim milk and honey... I am enjoying one right now!

9. I made homemade egg pappardelle this weekend and it was delish! Making fresh pasta is one of my favorite things to do when I have some time to waste.

It is super easy to make...put 2.5 cups of all purpose flour in a food processor. Then add 4 eggs, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and 1 table spoon of salt in a separate bowl...whisk to combine. Then pour the egg mixture into the food processor while the motor is running. Process until combine...pour out on a floured board (should be mealy) and kneed into a smooth ball. Let rest for 30 minutes and roll to desired pasta shape.

10. I have this overwhelming desire to reread all of the Harry Potter books and re-watch all of the movies. Maybe I should start on this soon! I am pretty sure baby Scott would love for me to read those books to him/her!

dear our littlest buddy,

Look how big you have made my belly this week. You are getting bigger stronger by the day...I can tell :) We had a good appointment on Monday. Your heartbeat was strong and you even put on a little show for the doctor. You kicked her hand which made me proud. I gave the doctor our final birth plan...I hope you cooperate so I can have the natural birth experience I have dreamed of. I think it will be absolutely amazing to actually be able to feel you completely being born. After the appointment I walked down to where you are going to actually enter the world...the labor and delivery ward at the hospital. All of the nurses were so nice and helpful. I hope we get one of those when you decide its time to make your big debut.

Your nonna finished up your mural this past weekend. I hope you fall in love with it as much as your dad and I have. We have already talked about taking you to Paris when you are a little older so you can actually see the Eiffel Tower in person. It is our favorite city...even though it is not the one you were created in. Your uncle Evans calls you an Italian treasure...and a treasure you are.

1. I have joined a children's book swap. You send one book and end up getting 36 books back!!! I think it will be a great way to stock baby Scott's bookshelf! 2. Had a doctor's appointment on Monday. Everything is looking great and I am growing right on track. I have decided that for my sanity I will not longer worry about weight gain and the number on the scale...the doctor agreed with me! I am signing up for a half marathon in November so I will lose the weight eventually...right!??!

3. I went on the hospital tour after my appointment and I think the hospital we chose is going to be perfect. I am so glad that everything happens in one room, and the nurse to patient ratio is very low. The nurse that gave me the tour also said that they are there to support my natural birth experience, which is key! I feel a little more at ease about giving birth in a hospital now. I was having second thoughts about that...by the way!

4. We finished the window seat in the nursery. I love the way all the fabric came together. Those window seat cushions were a little challenging to make!

5. This is the last week of regular season basketball. Playoffs start next week! This season has gone by SO fast. At the beginning of the season we would talk about the end of the season/playoff and the baby coming...it seemed so far away and now it is upon us. Hopefully the boys will continue to play well and make it to the state championship...I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)

6. I can not believe that Baby Scott could be here in 5 weeks and that would be perfectly acceptable. I think I am more comfortable with about 8 weeks though...like I even have a say in the matter :)

7. I made this banana pudding this past weekend and it was the BOMB!!! You should try it then next time you want banana pudding. Personally I would omit the condensed milk and use vanilla wafers...just person preference.

8. I have started working on posts that have all of our favorite baby gear. Hopefully I will get them knocked out and have them posted next week. I know I have really found those types of post helpful when I was doing all of my baby research.

9. I have no idea what we are going to do for Valentine's day this year. Andre has a basketball game that night so a romantic dinner in or out is not an option. Maybe we could just celebrate another day. I'm thinking of recreating our favorite Parisian dinner :) except not French wine...there is always next year for that!

10. I finally have scheduled a hair appointment. I have been in hair salon limbo for a few months. My stylist went on maternity leave and now she is not sure if she will be returning to that salon...so I found a new place. It comes highly recommended by my friend Whitney :) and Whitney has great taste so I know I will be in great hands!

our BIG project revealed!

My mom has been working weekend in and weekend out on this big project that I have kept a secret from everyone. She put the final touches on it this past weekend, so she is officially DONE!!! I really LOVE the way it turned out :)

When we were in Paris for our honeymoon we picked up some prints off of the left bank with all intentions of hanging them in our house when we got back. Fast forward a year and these same prints were sitting neglected and still unhung. So we decided what a perfect idea to theme the nursery around. I was bouncing ideas off of Andre and my mom and thats when the idea of a mural was brought up. My mom agreed to paint it...she is a pretty amazing painter by the way :)

So she started in September...Sept 18th to be exact

31 weeks

Dear our littlest buddy,

I am 31 weeks and 1 day pregnant with you. Your daddy and I can not believe that we get to meet you in about 2 months. According to the internet you are growing like a little weed now...I feel certain that you are starting to get a little cramped in your current living space. I would like for you to get a little more cramped before you grace us with your presence though. I really LOVE having you right here in my belly 24/7. You really love to punch and kick at my left side. I think that you are turned that way because I can feel either your back or butt on the right side. I am pretty sure the doctor will tell us on Monday when we have our 32 week check up. You definitely are a mover...I hope that means that you are going to be an active and alert baby.

We have almost gotten your room completed. Your nonna is coming this weekend to finish up your wall and help me with the window seat cushions. We also ordered your bookcase and shutters this past weekend. Sometime I go into your room and sit in the glider and think about how life is going to be when you are here. I know that it is going to be very different, but I think it is going to better :) Your two older brothers like sniff all of your things and lay very close to your crib. I hope that they will be great big brothers and not lick you TOO much :) I think that is going to be one of Tucker's favorite things to do...he is definitely a kisser.

We think about you constantly and love you SOOO much already. I can not imagine how much more in love we will be with you when you finally make your grand entrance...but for right now stay warm in my belly and plump up.

I had a surprise non traditional shower all last week!!!

My maid of honor and best girl friend lives in Ohio (too far away). She knew that she wanted to throw a shower for Baby Scott and me...so the the logical solution was a shower from afar.

This is the card that she send me before the shower started to give me a hint about what was to come.

She gathered all of my girl friends from college and they showered me all last week. She made sure that I received at least one gift each day of the week. Each day I could not wait to get home to see what was waiting in the mail for me :)

They really spoiled us! We loaded up on gift cards from Babys R Us, Target, and WalMart. All of the cards were amazing as well. All of my girls had just the right words to say and brought many many tears to my eyes (have I told you that I cry at the drop of a hat now)

We also got the bouncer that we registered for!!

I think it was an amazing idea and we really felt loved. The outpouring of support was heart warming. Baby Scott really has some of the best "aunts" in the world!!! We love them all :)

ten little scott things V. 5

1. It was Andre's birthday this past Friday. He turned 36...a great looking 36 I might add. He had a basketball game that evening; that they won!!! So...he did not get home until really late (read midnight) to start the birthday celebrations. I cooked him dinner of all of his favorite not so healthy foods...buffalo chicken wings, homemade potato chips with blue cheese, cornmeal onion rings, and an ice cream birthday cake. After eating a really late dinner he opened his gifts. He got a new temperpedic pillow, 2 pairs of pants, and some shirts. He said it was one of his favorite birthdays to date :)

2. We picked out the bookcase for Baby Scott's room this week and ordered it. I knew when I saw it that it would be perfect. It is from Pottery Barn and hopefully will be delivered soon...did you know that with PB's home delivery they bring the furniture to your house, unpack it, set it up in the place you want it, and clean up all the boxes. Thats a pretty sweet deal if you ask me :)

3. My mom and I went and picked out plantation shutters for the nursery this weekend as well. When the sales person at Lowes told me that it would take 45 days for the custom order I freaked out a little, but my mom told me that was plenty of time...and the baby will not be sleeping in its room for a couple of months after its born anyway.

This is the window that the plantation shutters are going on...

4. My chocolate chip pancake/waffle obsession is still here and strong. I made chocolate chip belgium waffles on Sunday morning. I drizzled mine with a little cream and it was divine. I could eat them everyday but I'm pretty sure baby Scott or my doctors would not appreciate that :)

5. The coming home outfit has been picked out and purchased. I can not get over the fact of how small newborn clothes are...tiny but so cute!!! Whether Baby Scott is a boy or a girl it will be coming home in a very southern smocked outfit :)

6. nursery sewing update: I have gotten all of the pillows finished and covered. The only thing that is left to sew are the window seat cushions. My mom is helping me with those and they should be done in the new couple of weeks.

7. Tillman and Tucker have gone on a digging/ aerating rampage out in the yard. They have a section that has nothing but a few sprigs of dead grass left. They LOVE to play in that area and get really gross. I was throwing the ball for Tillman the other day and after a few tosses he got tired...instead of laying in the grass he decides the best place to flop out is in the dirt patch they have been working so diligently on. Needless to say they both got baths this weekend to get all of the grossness off!

8. Our menu for this coming week...
hot and crunchy chicken cones with mango coleslaw

herb roasted turkey breast with parmesan pea risotto and sauteed squash and zucchini
chicken with shallots, scalloped tomatoes, and zucchini pancakes

9. I made my mom's zucchini bread this weekend as well. It is so moist and delicious. I think this will make a perfect breakfast!!!

10. I will be posting about my first baby shower tomorrow!!! It was not the traditional shower you are thinking about, but it was fantastic! Come back tomorrow to see all about it :)

It's my husbands birthday!!!

Dear my sweet husband,
Its your birthday (as if you already didn't know) and I wanted to write you a sweet little letter for this special occasion that comes around this time each year.

I am so happy that we are getting to spend another year together. You make life so fun and enjoyable. Those improv songs make me smile every time! I love just hanging out with you doing nothing in particular. Those are the best days.

Thanks for putting up with me on my good and bad days. I know I can be a spaz at times :) You are the best friend I could ask for. I know that I can count on you for anything. This next year is going to be one of your best yet...I just have this feeling.

Dear Baby,

I can not believe that we get to meet you in 10 short weeks. Where has the time gone? We wonder everyday who you are going to sound like, look like, and act like. I really hope that you have your dad's heart and compassion for others (he is pretty much the best when it comes to that). We all cant wait to see you, but secretly I love having you to myself right in my belly. I can rub it and most times you will start moving and kick my hand. Its pretty much one of my favorite past times these days. Your dad enjoys those kicks and jabs as well. I was sleeping the other night and your dad's arm was resting on my belly and you were kicking away :) I think you were trying to tell him about your day.

All of your mom's friends threw you a shower this week from "afar". You have so many smart and kind aunts that are going to just LOVE LOVE LOVE you. I know they just love spoiling you. I want you to know that you are loved by so many people already.

I have been really working hard on your room and loving every second. You are going to just love it...I hope :) When I put things in their place I always imagine us in there together. We are going to make a great team...I just have a feeling. I love you so much our littlest buddy!!!!

1. If you follow me on twitter or instagram (handle: lifeofascott) then you know how my weekend unfolded. I did some sewing, sewing, and more sewing.

I finished up the crib sheets. There are 7 total...I figured if the baby pooped on them each night we would still have enough to make it through the week...but if the baby is having blow outs that often there is probably another problem that needs to be addressed :)

2. I made the crib skirt. This was probably the hardest thing I have made so far...because of the shear size. It is pretty hard to hold onto all the fabric with pins and pleats. It took me a few hours to make, but its done and on the crib. I am so glad to have that checked off my list!

3. Yesterday I started making pillow form covers. These were so fun to make because there were only a few steps and literally took maybe 15-30 minutes from start to finish (for each one).

I have 3 more pillows to make but I have to find some pretty fabric to cover them with...maybe some more Amy Butler fabric :)

4. These two boys have been so cute this weekend. I am a sucker for a curled up pup...it makes my heart leap!

5. Baby Scott needs a pair of these!!

I mean can anything be any cuter!!! Especially those little Calculus kicks.

6. I have some yummy things on our menu this week...

7. Its Andre's birthday on Friday!!! Thats what that special meal above is for. Those are the 2 things that he said he would love :) Maybe not the healthiest but everything in moderation is okay (thats my motto anyway) I cant wait to celebrate on Friday and this weekend!

8. I have gotten tagged by many of you...unfortunately I have lost all the emails that I saved with who tagged me :( Sorry girls...just comment and let me know if you are one of those sweet and thoughtful girls. Sorry to be so unorganized and spaced out.

9. One of my blog friends Tyler posted an outstanding post about gay marriage last week. It was such a great post that I knew that I had to share. It was like she took the thoughts right out of my head. I agree whole heartily with her post. This is one of those taboo topics and I am so glad that she was brave enough to post about it!

10. I have been listening to the indie singer songwriter station on Pandora for the last couple of weeks and I love it!!!! If thats your sort of thing then you should check it out....you will thank me later :)

Size of the "THE BABY"? I am still measuring just a little ahead so baby Scott is about 3lbs and 16 inches long
Maternity Clothes? of course...even though I wore a J Crew tank yesterday and it still fit :)
With that being said, I popped a thread in my favorite pair of maternity jeans yesterday as well...I hope the rest of the threads hold up for 2 more months!!!

Weight Gain? 29 pounds
Stretch Marks? none so far (and keeping my fingers crossed)

Gender? I still think that we are going to be using the name Ellison and Andre thinks we will be using Harper :)

Movement? Baby Scott is really strong and loves to put on shows for us during the evening and right before bed...this is still my favorite part :)

Sleep? pretty good, but I have been awoken with leg cramps a few times. Still waking up at least once a night to pee

Food Cravings? everything bagels with cream cheese, blueberry and strawberry smoothies, and Chick fila!!!!

What I Miss? being able to sleep an entire night with out waking up to pee :)
Symptoms? larger belly (obviously), LEG CRAMPS :(, heartburn, and leaky boobs
Best Moment of the Week? getting invites for our shower

Baby Scott's name...

Since we aren't finding out the gender of Baby Scott the least I can do is share a name or two...right :)

I dropped a hint or two in previous post, but didn't really give too much detail.

Are you anxious yet!?!

We have had special names picked out for quite some time, but really did not narrow them down until we found out that Baby Scott was actually going to happen. Both the girl's and boy's names are comprised of family names from both of our families. I have always really LOVED family names and last names as first names. Having your child named after your family is really a special thing.

SO...

If Baby Scott is a girl her name will be

Harper D. Scott

and if Baby Scott is a boy his name will be

Ellison D. Scott

Harper is my mom's maiden name and Ellison is Andre's mom's maiden name. The middle names are different but both start with a "D". I LOVE both of these names and think either would be perfect for our little baby. I am so thankful that both of our families have great names to pick from :)

I haven't decided if I am going to share the middle names before Baby H or Baby E's arrival...

little Scott things...V.3

1. Having yesterday off was glorious! Definitely a much needed vacation day. I did not get much rest but I got LOTS accomplished. I ran errands and grocery shopped until lunch. Then Andre and I had Chick fila (I have been craving it) followed by my 29 week doctors appointment.

2. Everything went well at the doctors appointment. The baby's heartbeat was 137 and I am still measuring a few days ahead of schedule.

3. My mom and I tried to find crib sheets this weekend but were disappointed with the selection. SO we decided that I would just make the crib sheets. We picked out 7 different fabrics and away I went. I have made 3 sheets so far...

4. I also made our "real" changing pad cover. I am really proud of how it turned out since I drew the pattern myself. The yellow one that I posted last week was just a practice one since I did draw the pattern and I knew the second one would be MUCH better than the first!!!

5. One of my friends and her mom are throwing me a baby shower!!! I got the proof for the invites and I LOVE them!!! Tiny Prints does such a great job with invitations...

6. I am cooking some of Andre's favorite foods this week...spicy chicken tenders, potato skins, and PW chicken tacos...not all the same day but sometime during this week

7. Basketball season is more than half over. It seems like it just started. Andre's team is doing well so far this year...11-5!!!

8. My mom is ALMOST done with the BIG project she has been working on in Baby Scott's room. I am thinking about doing a nursery progress post later this week!!! Everything is really coming together in there!!! Which is good because I have started nesting BIG time!

9. Tillman and Tucker have been so sweet the last few days. I think they can tell something is a little different...with all this new stuff coming in the house.

10. I think we are going to get some new flooring in our kitchen while I am on maternity leave. Probably only linoleum that looks like tile since we will probably not be in this house for too much longer. Hopefully I will have some time in the next couple of weekends to go look around at Lowes.

How far along? 28 weeks and 1 day...only 83 days until our due date!!!
Size of the "THE BABY"? I am assuming that I am still measuring a week ahead...that would make the baby around 2.5 pounds and the size of a butternut squash
Maternity Clothes? obviously...have you seen my small basketball. I wish that it was acceptable to wear leggings to work...I would probably live in them!

Weight Gain? probably 26-28 pounds...I go to the doctor on Monday so I will get the official number then
Stretch Marks? none so far (and keeping my fingers crossed)...still drinking LOTS of water to keep my skin moist

Gender? who knows :) I am positive it is a boy and Andre is positive it is a girl!!!

Movement? This is still my favorite part of pregnancy. Baby Scott is one strong little kicker. He/she was up late on Wednesday night doing a gymnastics routine for Andre and me.

Sleep? I got a snoogle pregnancy pillow on Tuesday. I am sleeping with it, but I have not gotten use to it yet. So far it has made me really hot, but I am going to continue sleeping with it until Monday. Then figure out whether I like it or not.

Food Cravings? nothing really this week...food in general tastes so much better this week!

What I Miss? being able to bend down and breathe and wearing cute J Crew jeans
Symptoms? belly is just getting bigger and bigger...it is starting to resemble a basketball, leg cramps in the middle of the nights, and the acne has come back out of hiding :(
Best Moment of the Week? reading more of "The Womanly Art of Breast feeding"...I cant wait to share that bond with Baby Scott.

Pregnancy Must haves...so far

Since I have 28 weeks of this pregnancy stuff under my belt...or should i say around my waist...

I thought I would share a few of my must haves/ loves...so far

1. coconut oil

I use this on my face as my lotion and it doubles as a great moisturizer for my ever expanding belly and boobs. I use this at night on my belly and boobs since it is a little greasy and I don't want it to get all over my shirts. By the way...I use it on my face both morning and night.

2. burts bees belly balm

this stuff is amazing...and surprisingly not greasy

it is also fragrance free!!!

3. nalgene

I drink LOTS of water and now that I am pregnant I drink even more. I try to drink at least 3 full bottles while at work (each bottle is 64 oz). These bottles make it easy to track your water intake.

4. long tanks

This girl has one long torso so my pre-pregnancy shirts stopped fitting early on. These tanks were a life saver...since even some maternity shirts ride up and no one at work wants to see my bare belly.

5. toms

I have had a love affair with Toms for quite some time, but since i Have gotten pregnant it has gotten worse. I probably wear Toms 6 days a week at least. They are perfect for my pregnant feet...

I am a proud owner of 8 pairs now :)

6. lemon drops

I keep a small bag of these at my desk at all times. If I start feeling a little queazy then I just pop one in my mouth and I start feeling better.

7. daily walks

These walks that I take everyday have really made my life so much better. My back started hurting around 17-18 weeks, so I started walking 2 miles a day. Since I started walking my back has hurt no more!!!

8. milk

I have NEVER been a milk drinker, but now I try to drink at least 2-3 glasses a day.

9. planner

I love making lists and staying planned. My moleskine has really gotten a work out these past few months. I give my planner all the credit that I have not lost my mind yet :)

10 little Scott things, V. 2

1. Our house is finally de-Christmased. My mom and dad came yesterday and they helped us undecorated and hauled away the tree. The tree was So big that it filled the entire bed of my dad's full size pick up truck :)

it is going to take a couple of days for me to get use to the way the living room and mantle looks now with out the tree and Christmas decor. I always love the cozy look that Christmas decorations give our house...only 11 more months and we can decorate again :)

2. I am planning to make tri-berry muffins each morning for breakfast. I have made these delicious muffins before and I think they will hit just the right spot before work each morning...plus I passed my glucose test so I can eat carbs with out fear now!!! I divided the whole portion into 3 parts so I can make 6 muffins fresh each morning instead of eating old ones...an no I am not eating all 6. Some of them are for Andre! I will share the recipe later this week.

3. We will probably update Andre's vehicle soon. He has a Ford Escape right now and has had that same car for quite some time. We are thinking about getting a pick up truck next...maybe on of these beauties.

4. I have gotten quite a few new followers around these parts. If you have not introduced yourself...you should :) I love making new friends!!!

5. I ordered all of our nursery fabric yesterday. I hope that it comes in pretty quickly so I can get busy making all of baby Scott's bedding. I just LOVE our fabric that we chose...it is Amy Butler's Midwest Modern in Ohio Sky

6. Baby Scott got a bassinet for Christmas, but when I was putting it together I discovered that the hardware was missing. After talking with the manufacture they decided it would be best if we just sent that bassinet back to them and they would send us a new one. The new one is supposed to get to our house this week!!! I can't wait to actually put it together and see how it looks. My pregnancy pillow should also be here early this week!!! It is going to be a good mail week in the Scott household :)

7. I am officially 7 months pregnant (even though I really don't feel big yet)! Only 2.5 more months until we get to meet Baby Scott. I am getting more and more excited with each passing day!!!

8. I made a practice changing pad cover this weekend. It turned out pretty well so I think we will use it as a back up cover. I am not a big fan of the minky material, but it is SO soft that I caved :)

The Baby...27 weeks

I have now entered my third trimester!!! 2 down and 1 to go. That seem unreal when I say that out loud!!! I mean it feels like just yesterday that we found out that we were going to be parents and now we are literally weeks away from holding our son or daughter!!

How far along? 27 weeks and 1 day...only 3 months until our due date!!!
Size of the "THE BABY"? I had my last appointment on Friday and I was measuring 1 week ahead so the baby is really growing!!! Probably up to 2.5 pounds by now!!! The size of an eggplant...eggplant parm sounds really good right now too!!
Maternity Clothes? obviously...have you seen my small basketball

Weight Gain? 24 pounds...that sounds like SO much but I know it really isn't
Stretch Marks? none so far...still drinking LOTS of water to keep my skin moist

Gender? I still think baby Scott will be baby E and Andre still thinks that it is going to be baby H...don't you love how I just put those initials out there to eat away at your curiosity!!!

Movement? I still love this part, but our buddy recently found how to get a foot or arm wedged into my ribs. I have to stand up and walk around to get him/her to move

Sleep? my pregnancy pillow should be here by next Tuesday!!! I can't wait to sleep with it! We both went to bed REALLY early last night! I think that I feel asleep by 9PM!!!

Food Cravings? nothing really this week...I just can't eat as much now before feeling overstuffed

What I Miss? being able to breathe when I put on my shoes :)
Symptoms? belly is just getting bigger and bigger!!! and leaky boobs (TMI, I know)
Best Moment of the Week? finding out that I PASSED the 1 hr glucose test!!! I am so relieved and now I can eat my sour patch kids with no regret :)

I am also making up my guest list for my baby shower...so exciting!!! I am going to have 1 big one instead of a few smaller ones.

A Day in My Life...

I thought it would be pretty neat to document how a normal weekday was spend in my life before baby Scott's arrival. I have a feeling that things might change a little once his or her arrival.

This is how my day went on Tuesday (Jan. 3, 2012)

6AM: Alarm goes off and I literally roll out of the bed...I can hardly sit up without assistance these days :). I head straight to the shower.

6:15AM-6:20AM: Get out of the shower...start styling my hair and get dressed (I try to pick out my outfit the night before so this process won't take too long...and Andre doesn't wake up until 6:30 so I try not to turn on too many lights before that time)

6:30AM feed the pups and give Tucker his meds (he must take his medicine at 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM sharp)

6:30AM-7:00AM I fix Andre's lunch (turkey and swiss on a sandwich round, pringles (his weakness), pudding, and a banana) and my breakfast. For breakfast today I ate peach activa yogurt with granola and strawberries and apple cider from the keurig. I pack my snacks as well...I packed asian snack mix and cherries today. Then I sit down to read blogs, usually try to post something, and eat my breakfast.

7:00AM-7:20AM I brush my teeth, finalize my hair, and put on my makeup. Today I also got Andre to take my picture for my 27 week bump date!

7:20AM-7:35AM Drive to work.

7:35AM-10:00AM General catching up since I have not been at work since Dec. 22.

10:00AM-10:15AM Go on my morning walk. I walk a mile... that mile really makes me feel so much better. It was REALLY cold on Tuesday...the wind chill was 7 degrees!!! I think that chill made me walk just a little faster than normal so I could get back in the heat ASAP!

10:15AM-noon eat my morning snack (just a little asian mix and 2 dark chocolate recees) and work a little more

noon-1:00PM drive home for lunch while talking with my mom; pet the pups and eat a turkey and swiss sandwich with avocado, onion, and mustard.

1:00PM-3:00PM work...work...work (and wrote my birth plan- first draft)

3:00PM-3:15PM go on my afternoon walk...It was a little warmer this time around. I think the wind chill was a warm 20 degrees!!!

3:15PM-5:00PM eat my afternoon snack (cheeries) and do a little more work wrapping up the day

5:00PM-5:15PM drive home and talked with Nika and my mom about baby showers :)

5:15PM-6:00 PM play with the pups, get the mail, clean up the dog poop (TMI) from the backyard, and cut some mint that will be used for dinner tonight

6:00PM- 6:30PM check the computer: read blogs, check facebook...all of the important things in life :)

6:30PM feed the pups their dinner and give Tuck Tuck his meds

6:30PM-8:00PM Cook dinner which was Greek meatballs with Tzatziki and Orzo with Feta and Walnuts

8:00PM- 8:30PM eat dinner

8:30 PM- 10:00 PM veg out on the couch watching the season premire of Biggest Loser!!!! I know this part of my day with change once little Scott gets here :)

10:15PM-11:00PM Andre gets home for the day (during basketballs season he has some late nights) I prepare his dinner and sit at the table to talk with him while he eats

11:00PM I finally get into the bed exhausted and fall right to sleep

usually I wake up around 2-3AM to pee these days

SO that is my typical day...does it look like yours?

My Proposal Story

My proposal story may not seem that great to some but I could not have asked anything better. I love to cook and everything about food, as you all know. During this particular night I was getting all of the ingredients out to make dinner and realized that I did not have everything that was needed. I asked Andre (he always ate dinner with me before we were married) to go pick the needed items up from the local grocery store. While he was gone I am I starting cleaning and putting things away and before I knew it he was back to the house with the groceries in stow. He placed the bags on the counter and I started to unload the bags and I saw this...

I initially thought it was some kind of cleaner or a sponge or something (I know I sound crazy but that is OK ;)). Andre took the box...the one I have been waiting on since I was a little girl...and got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. Of course I said yes and then we both started crying!

After I had calmed down just a little I finished dinner. Then we ate a wonderful, romantic dinner at our house that we would share after we were married. My ring is perfect for me because it was made especially for me. I could not ask for a better ring or a person that put it on my finger!!!!

I love my ring more today than the day Andre gave it to me!!! I just love what it symbolizes!!

10 little Scott things, V. 1

1. I'm starting over with the whole little Scott things since it is a new year...I feel like I need a fresh start. So now that I am all new and shiny again, we can begin!!!

2. I set some goals for myself in the new year! I posted them here yesterday. I think "writing" them down will hold me accountable and push me to accomplish all of them. I think that hardest one will be to run another half marathon...but I already have one picked out so its a done deal! Mark it on your calender Nov 2012 Savannah Rock and Roll Half Marathon you will see me there!!!

3. I also did a 2011 recap on Saturday. I love reading old blog posts and looking at all of my pictures. We really did have a great year...there are so many opportunities that we were given and we are thankful for all of them!!! If you are new around these parts then take some time and get caught up :)

4. We celebrated New Years with just the two if us (4 if you count the pups but they didn't get to have any of our delicious food). We had honey glazed ham, hoppin johns (for all of you non Southerners that is basically black eyed peas over rice), collards, corn bread, and tiramisu. We talked about this coming year and just how excited were are about everything!!!!

5. The tiramisu that I make is authentic Italian. We learned how to make it while we were in Rome...we took a cooking class . It was one of the highlights of our trip (to me at least).

I thought I would share the recipe...almost straight from the Chef himself :)

Ingredients:
- 4 eggs
- 4 tablespoon of confectioner sugar
- 250gr mascarpone cheese- ladyfingers or savoiardi biscuits

- 1/2 -3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips, chopped

- 2 cups espresso coffee

Instructions:

Make some espresso and set aside to cool.

To make the cream mixture separate 4 egg whites from the yokes. Put the yokes in a medium bowl and the whites in the bowl of an electric mixer. Add 2 tablespoons confectioners sugar and a few grains of salt to the egg whites. Whisk using the electric mixer until stiff but not dry. Then add 2 tablespoons confectioners sugar to 4 egg yokes and stir until very thick and light in color. Then stir in 250gr of mascarpone cheese until smooth. As soon as both of the creams are ready, fold the yoke mixture into the whites...being sure not to STIR!!!

To assemble, dip the ladyfingers, one at a time, in the espresso mixture and line a long flat serving dish with them.

Sprinkle on the chopped chocolate chips.

Spoon a the cream mixture over these. Cover the whole thing with a thick layer of grated unsweetened chocolate/cocoa powder and leave it chilling in the fridge for min. 2 hrs. If you want, this dish can be made up to one day in advance, and in this case sprinkle cocoa powder only before serving and not in advance. It will be delicious!!

Wine Pairing: Cannellino - it's a Passito wine of Frascati grapes from the Winery Cantina Cerquetta ed. 2009 (this is a sweet wine that suite perfectly with desserts)

6. I have to go back to work this week after having off all of last week. I have a feeling that 6AM is going to come really early!!! At least it is only a 4 day week. Its crazy to think that the next long vacation I will have will be maternity leave! Which is only 3 months away!!!!!

7. I have officially finished our baby registries. I did the last bit of fine tuning last night. We are registering at Target, Baby's R Us, and WalMart. If you see anything that I missed just let me know :)

8. Andre and I both got Words with Friends on our phones over the break...now we are obsessed!!!! You can play me....my user name is Kitscott

9. I just ordered a pregnancy pillow. I went with the Leachco Snoogle. I really hope that it helps me get a better nights rest. My biggest problem is that my arm that I lay on goes to sleep and I have to keep turning over to wake it back up. I probably do this 5-6 times a night. I hope that this pillow is a good one...

10. These 2 sweet boys are going to be the best big brothers a baby could ask for...I just know. Tillman is going to be the protector and Tucker is going to keep the baby clean ;)

Happy New Years!!! It is finally the year of our baby...

I have always dreamed of this time...how I would look pregnant, where I would live, and what I would be doing with my life.

I can honestly say that I am happy with all of these things and can not wait for all of the things that 2012 has in store for our family.

I have written down some goals for this upcoming year since it will be a year for change. When the goals are written down I feel like I will be more likely to get them accomplished.

The BABY...26 weeks

How far along? 26 weeks and 1 day...HOLY MOLY only 97 days left...we are down to the double digits!!!
Size of the "THE BABY"? about 2lbs and about 14 inches long!!! The size of an eggplant...and speaking of eggplant...meet Elliot the Eggplant and Clarence the Chicken. They were made especially for Baby Scott by yours truly and Aunt Nika this past week using Wild Olive's pattern!

Maternity Clothes? of course...have you seen my belly!?! I have been having so much fun wearing all of my new clothes that I got for Christmas. I got some super soft and comfortable shirts from A Pea in the Pod...I really LOVE them!!!!

Weight Gain? probably still about 22 pounds now...I have a doctors appointment this morning so I will update this after the appointment
Stretch Marks? none so far...still drinking LOTS of water to keep my skin moist

Gender? i'm still thinking a little boy and Andre thinks girl....so at least one of us is right!!! I have had 2 dreams in the last week that baby Scott was a little girl with a head full of hair though :)

Movement? Our little buddy is a mover...I can feel movement all through out the day. I just LOVE it!!! I have actually noticed that you can see the kicks from the outside now...my stomach will jump around when our little buddy is doing its gymnastic routine

Sleep? ok...I still need to get a pregnancy pillow. Hopefully my mom and I will go today to get one. I have started having pretty weird dreams too!

Food Cravings? I ate some honey baked ham for Christmas and it was AMAZING!!! I am usually not a ham or pork eater, but the littlest buddy has changed that

What I Miss? being able to breathe when I put on my shoes :)
Symptoms? definitely a bigger belly and my belly button is GONE (at least it wont stick out though)
Best Moment of the Week? spending our last Christmas with just us...it was a pretty spectacular one too. We also have gotten some baby stuff for the nursery...its starting to come together!!!

9. Speaking of being pregnant...I have my gluecose test tomorrow!!!! I REALLY REALLY hope that I pass...I would hate for all of these yummy Sour Patch kids to go to waste :)

10. Last but definitely not least...its my MOM's birthday today!!!!!! Happy birthday Mama...we LOVE you so very much!!!!

THE BABY...week 25

Size of the "THE BABY"? almost 2lbs and about 14 inches long!!! Baby Scott is starting to grow some fat!!!
Maternity Clothes? of course...have you seen my belly!?!
Weight Gain? probably about 22 pounds now...I am eating really healthy and walking 2 miles everyday, but the weight seems to still be coming ;)
Stretch Marks? none so far...I really hope that I dont get any, but only time will tell...I can tell my skin is starting to get a little tight but hopefully the 12 cups of water I drink everyday will help keep my skin elastic and moist.

Gender? i'm still thinking a little boy and Andre thinks girl....so at least one of us is right!!!

Movement? Our little buddy is a mover...I can feel movement all through out the day. I just LOVE it!!! I think he/she got a case of the hiccups this week too :)

Sleep? pretty good...still getting up during the night to pee...I think that I need to invest in a pregnancy body pillow...maybe I will get one after Christmas!!!

Food Cravings? I have fallen off the club sandwich wagon...still LOVE them but I haven't had time this week to fix them at lunch, plus I have been eating quiche Loraine for lunch (not a bad trade off)

What I Miss? nothing really...being able to bend down and not be short of breath :)...I know it is only going to get worse though!!
Symptoms? bigger belly and my belly button is almost gone...since i have started walking everyday my back has quit hurting!!!!!!
Best Moment of the Week? that my back has quit hurting completely and it is CHRISTMAS week!!!!!

Christmas Traditions...

I am such a traditionalist when it comes to holidaytraditions. I just loveparticipating and having lots of holiday traditions. I have a few ideas that I want to start once Baby Scott ishere as well.

{These pictures are all from last Christmas and really don't have much to do with the post beside the common theme of Christmas}

Christmas eve: We always go visit our “adopted family” onChristmas eve. They are not ourreal family, but who is to judge what is real and what isn’t J We catch up and giveall of the children gifts. I lovegoing to visit with them because I do not get to see many of them during theyear now that I don’t live in Chester. Then we go to candlelight service at the church. I have always loved this service…it isso magical, plus we get to singall of my favorite Christmas songs!!! (and we get to light candles…my brother and I LOVED that growing up…wewould always try to drip wax on each other...what you did that too!?!) After the service we always ride around to look at Christmaslights as a family. There are afew neighborhoods in Chester that are really serious when it comes to puttingup Christmas lights!!! There iseven one house that Santa sits outside and waves to all of the children ridingby!!!

Santa: My brother and I have ALWAYS woken up in the middleof the night to see what Santa has left for us. (we still do this…I am planningon dragging my 6month pregnant self down the stairs this year, too) We usually wake up around 4-5AM…wesneak downstairs and wake up our parents. After sleepy looking at all of our goodies we head back to bed untilbreakfast.

Christmas day: We wake up to the smell of breakfast cooking downstairs by my dad. He cooks the best Christmasbreakfast!!! We eat and then it ispresent time!!! We all gatheraround the Christmas tree and open our presents one by one…my mom ALWAYS makessure that my brother, me, and now Andre have the same number of presents (shesaid it would have been a problem when we were younger if one had more than theother)

Future traditions

Christmas pajamas: My brother and I always opened onepresent on Christmas eve while we were growing up. I love the idea of being able to open just one present onChristmas eve. I want toincorporate this tradition into our future traditions but tweak it just alittle. I would want this onepresent to be Christmas pajamas that would be worn to bed on Christmas eve andworn on Christmas morning when gifts are opened. I think little children are so cute in Christmas pajamas!!!

Ornaments

I want to buy or make a new ornament every year when BabyScott gets here. I think that itwill be so cool to be able to look back at the ornaments that represent theirChristmases.

1. I can not believe that it is Christmas time...all of our festivities start on Christmas Eve. I cant wait to give all of the gifts that I have picked out and see everyones faces after they open them. I really think that is the best part!!! Seeing all of my family is going to be pretty great as well! NOw Friday hurry up :)

2. I am making chocolate bark this week as well. I made like 4-5 different kinds last year,

but this year I'm sticking with 2 of my favorites...

bittersweet chocolate+coconut+macadamia nut+dried mango+crystalized ginger

semi sweet chocolate+ smoked almonds+ dried figs+french sea salt

and then pack them up into pretty containers

if you want to make your own bark follow these instructions

step 1: line pan with foil
step 2: pick out your favorite ingredientsChocolate: need 1 pound (bittersweet chocolate, semisweet chocolate, white chocolate, or half bittersweet and half white (for swirled))Crunchy toppings: 1/2 cup chopped (almonds, walnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, peanuts, pistachios, cashews, and or pine nuts)chewy toppings: 1/2 cup chopped (dried figs, dried apricots, dried cherries, dried cranberries, dried mangos, raisins, mini marshmallows, candied orange peel, crystallized gingerspices: totally optional (red pepper flakes, flaky sea salt, crushed cardamon seeds, toasted fennel seeds, crushed pink peppercorns, hazelnuts, peppermints, toffee, nut brittle, toasted coconut flakes, peanut butter chips, banana chips.
step 3: melt the chocolate*make sure all of your tools are dry. chop the chocolate into 1/2 in pieces with a knife. place all but 1 cup of chopped chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. (for swirled bark, put all but 1/2 cup of each chocolate in 2 separate bowls)*microwave 30 seconds, then stir with rubber spatula. continue microwaving and stirring at 30 second intervals until melted, 3-5 min total. (for swirled barks, microwave each chocolate seperately for 15 second intervals)*immediately add the reserved chopped chocolate to the bowl or bowls; stir until melted and shiny. don't worry if there are a small unmelted pieces
step 4: spread it outpour the chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet; using the rubber spatula to spread about 1/4 inch thick(for swirled bark, pour the 2 chocolates side by side on the baking sheet; use the spatula to swirl them together)
step 5: add your toppingspress your crunchy and chewy toppings into the chocolate, arranging them so each bite has a mix of flavors and textures. Sprinkle with spices, if using. Let the bark harden completely to room temperature, about 1 hour.
Break into pieces and store in an airtight container at room temp. for 1 to 2 weeks!

3. Andre's team hit a bump in the road this past week and lost 2 games in a row. Their record is 5-2 now. They are playing in a tournament all this week so hopefully they will secure a few more wins!!!

4. I am one of those weird pregnant people that doesn't like for people to touch my stomach. Maybe you are/were the same way... I never realized how many people think that it is completely acceptable to just reach their hand out to touch me...they might just pull back a numb one of these days...

People that I know, like my parents, close friends, and of course my husband, are not part of the group of people that would pull back a numb if they touched me :)

5. I have downloaded a few literary classics on my kindle and plan to reread them during the holiday break...like The Catcher and the Rye, Little Women, Great Expectations, Jane Eyre...I figured I would probably get so much more out of them now than when I read them in high school! Plus all the classics are free to download on the Kindle.

6. We finally made it to the movies this past weekend. It has been months since we have gone which is unusual for us. We saw Hugo in 3D and it was great. It was set in Paris which made it even better. Great story and worth seeing in 3D in my opinion!!!! Now I cant wait for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Hunger Games to come out!!! Those two are must sees for me!

7. Sweet holiday pups...they have been SO helpful wrapping presents this year. ;)

8. I am on the last season of Friday Night Lights. I can not believe that I am almost done with the series. I do not want it to end...I may even shed a tear when I watch the finale. This TV show has turned out to be one of my favorites of all time!

9. Have you ever poked a bunch of cloves into oranges...if not, then you probably should

You will thank me later! My whole house smells amazing now!

Tucker and I have been GREAT this year and we deserve lots of things from Santa, our parents, and grandparents

We have gotten all of our decorations up ...

we only did one tree this year since I am growing a human inside of me and that makes me a little tired...

plus helping Andre get things out of the attic becomes more and more difficult with each passing day.

Maybe next year we will have our regular 2 trees and maybe even a 3rd one for Baby Scott's room.

1. I have completed my Christmas shopping!!! I am so happy that I can relax and enjoy these last 2 weeks before Christmas. I really want to enjoy this holiday season because this will be our last one with just Andre and me. I know future Christmases will be totally different...great but different. I just hope that Santa still visits me even after baby Scott is here :)

2. I made lemon rosemary and lemon mint sugar scrub this weekend. I think it is an easy gift idea that is sure to please. I even made a little extra so I can keep some for myself :)

all you do is add 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of olive oil (or some other neutral oil), 1 tablespoon lemon zest, and 1 tablespoon of either chopped rosemary or chopped mint

mix together in a bowl and add to a decorative container

3. I finally ordered our Christmas cards...I guess better late than never. I ordered them from Shutterfly again this year. Take a look...

4. I reach a BIG milestone in my pregnancy this week...it is viability week!!! With that being said I hope that Baby Scott is comfortable in my belly and will stay put for at least 11 more weeks!!!!! He or she has lots more growing to do!

5. I think I have decided on a diaper bag thanks to all of your suggestions. I love the Timi and Leslie bags. The Hannah and Charlie are my favorite. I am not going to order one yet...I am going to give it a little more time to make sure those are the ones I REALLY like!!!

6. Wilson basketball has started off the year really well. Their record is 4-0 and they have 3 games this week. Hopefully their record will be great after this week as well!!!

7. Andre finally felt the baby move last night. We have been trying to get the baby to kick or move when he had his hand on my stomach for a while and last night was finally the night!! I was so excited and I think he was too!!!

8. I have picked out my outfit for Christmas eve church service. I just need to find some maternity tights. I have never even seen a pair but I know that they exist. I hope that I can a find a pair that is not too tight on my stomach. I think that I am going to be one good looking pregnant girl this Christmas :)

9. We finally watched "The Help". I enjoyed it, but of course it wasn't as good as the book. No movie ever is...except maybe "The Green Mile". I can't wait for 2 of my other favorite books to come to film...The Hunger Game and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I hope that we can go see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo over Christmas break...we have not been to the movies in forever!!!

10. I have been asked to share our engagement story and our love story. I have not shared either one before...maybe I will start writing them soon and share them with you all. How would you like that!?!

THE BABY...week 23

Hello 23 weeks!!! My pregnancy is FLYING by...and my belly is ever expanding! I actually look pregnant in these pictures!!!

How far along? 23 weeks and 1 day...118 days left...my due date is in less that 4 months!!!
Size of the "THE BABY"? about 1.25 lbs...and about 11 inches long
Maternity Clothes? I could not imagine not wearing maternity pants now...I have actually started liking them...that panel is really comfortable and forgiving :)
Weight Gain? I was up 18 lbs as of Monday...my weight to start with was a little low so I think I may gain a little more weight...my doctor told me not to worry about it as well
Stretch Marks? none so far...I really hope that I dont get any, but only time will tell

Gender? I still think boy...

Movement? Our little buddy is a mover...I can feel movement all through out the day. He/She must sleep when I do...maybe this is a good sign!

1. I had a doctor's appointment on yesterday afternoon. Those appointments are the only kind of doctor visits that I actually look forward to. We had to wait for a LONG time in the waiting room this time...I think my doctor may have been at the hospital (maybe delivering a baby!!!) I talked with her about using the Bradley method when it comes to delivery. She was supportive (thank goodness) and told me to start writing my birth plan. I am a little nervous about writing it, because I am scared I will forget something. Moms out there...what are your suggestions, are there any good websites, any help will be greatly appreciated!

2. Our tree is finally decorated...

5. Speaking of winning, the Clemson Tigers are ACC Champs!!! I am so proud of my Tigers!!! Now we are going to the Orange Bowl in Florida...playing West Virginia!

6. I can not believe that there are only 2 more weekends until Christmas! I have gotten most of my Christmas shopping completed...only a few small things left. I have done more Christmas shopping online this year than any other year...and I have gotten some pretty sweet discounts! My friends and parents are getting great things this year!!!

7. My mom took some pictures of all of us a few weekends ago. I was going to use them for Christmas cards, but I am running out of time. I'm not sure if we will be doing cards this year.

8. I made some cupcakes last night...funfetti goodness!!!

9. Speaking of sweets, I have my gestational diabetes 1 hr test scheduled...I am NOT excited about drinking that super sugary drink. I DON'T like super sweet things (unlike cupcakes)!! Hopefully I will pass the 1hr test so I dont have to do the 3 hr test.

10. I am searching for the perfect diaper bag. I have looked high and low, and I have come to the conclusion that I need some help. I think that I would rather have a bag that I can use as a purse and a diaper bag. ANY suggestions!?!

Finding our PERFECT Christmas tree...

We traveled to Boone, NC this past weekend to find out PERFECT tree. This is a tradition in my family and I am so glad that we get to incorporate it into our Christmas traditions.

We have gone to the same tree farm for as long as I can remember...J & D Farms has the best trees!

"THE BABY"...week 22

I am 22 weeks pregnant with our baby...that means only 18 more week until we get to meet our son or daughter!! I really cant believe that we are going to be human parents in 4 short months!

As you can tell...I have changed the nickname of our little one (per request from Andre)

now the little baby will be referred to simply as "THE BABY"

How far along? 22 weeks and 1 day...125 days left...
Size of the "THE BABY"? a whopping pound!!! I have looked forward to this milestone
Maternity Clothes? still wearing maternity pants and regular tops (must be long though...this girl has one long torso)...I just LOVE wearing legging and dresses on the weekends.
Weight Gain? I think I am up like 16-17 pounds...I will find out the official number on Monday. That seems like a LOT of weight but I have assured that it is okay
Stretch Marks? none so far...I hope I am one of the luck ones...still using my belly balm everyday

Gender? what do you think? Make sure you vote on the gender poll to the right...

Movement? Andre had his first basketball game on Tuesday and all that noise really woke "THE BABY" up...he/she was cheering her dad on BIG TIME! I dont think I have felt that much movement yet in one sitting! I just LOVED it! I cant wait to see if it happens again tonight at the game.

Sleep? this past week has been a little rough. I have been getting to bed a little later than normal and on Tuesday morning I woke up at about 4:30 because Tucker had some seizures. The lack of sleep has made me more exhausted and has made sleeping a little more difficult...which makes no sense.

Food Cravings? club sandwiches...I have eaten one everyday for lunch. I really look forward to them each day!

What I Miss? nothing really...
Symptoms? belly stretches, BIGGER boobs (I have officially moved into a D!), my belly button is disappearing!!!
Best Moment of the Week? feeling "THE BABY" move so much on TUesday night at the game, and honestly getting new bras...my old ones were SO uncomfortable!
